The Power of Subtraction
Chris Hansen | February 27, 2008I grew up reading Garfield comic strips in the paper. I bought all of the comic anthologies religiously and read and re-read them over and over.
In college, I loaned the anthologies out to someone who never returned them (this happened a lot, unfortunately. Lost my Cosca books that way) but by then I had moved on to other comics and the loss wasn’t too painful.
It wasn’t that they were that funny; some of them always got a laugh out of me. More often they were familiar and when I was stressed out, it was nice to read something simple that helped to drain the stress out.
That is why garfield minus garfield is such comedy gold. It takes the expected and totally twists is about into something dark, sad and twisted.
I love it. I think you will too.
