Self-censoring

Posted April 26th, 2007 in Commentary, Personal by Chris Hansen

After an email earlier today from His Royal Highness, I realized that it has been a while since I wrote anything here. I have a long standing policy of not writing about work (already had content submitted as evidence in a dispute, don’t want that again) and I don’t write about personal family issues.

So, um, how is the weather where you are at?

All kidding aside, determining what I can post and what I can’t kind of sours posting anything at all. However, here is a bit of what I am thinking about today.

  • Carpet is going to be installed next Tuesday in the downstairs family room so EVERYTHING MUST GO type of boxing and moving has consumed my evenings.
  • I’ve tossed my office chair at home to the side in exchange for a Yoga ball, in an effort to alleviate the pain in my back and legs from sitting all day. Even with taking yoga for a year, it doesn’t strengthen your abdominals enough to go cold turkey this way – my gut hurt a little bit yesterday from over use. Still, my posture is already better (can’t slouch) and the muscles are toning. At this rate I’ll look good by the time I die.
  • I started watching the Henry Rollins show on IFC this season. He is not for the easily intimidated but he is honest, straightforward and bitingly funny. Did I mention the brutally honest part? The man is so on target that his insight is like a finely tuned laser, boring in and burning away the hype and spin until the cancer is laid bare.

Oh, and the boy and I flew kites a week or so ago which was a blast. Didn’t take any pictures though so you’ll just have to believe me. Soccer has started so my Saturdays are going to be sucked up by that as well for a while.

Now you know…

Cover Etiquette, part two

This wonderful cover by Alanis Morrisette is a send up of The Black Eyed Peas ‘My Humps’ and it is outstanding! If you have seen the original video then you should recognize that Alanis is mocking Fergy all through the video. Her cracking up at the end is worth the watch as well.
